Here are five essential shortcuts in Excel that will make your work easier and faster to perform.

  • Insert Total Sum

To find the sum of a few cells, what do you do mostly? Go to a cell, type in the formula of sum, select the cells you want to add, and then get the result. While this is not a tough task, another easier way to sum up a group of cells in microseconds is to select the cells and press the shortcut key, i.e., ALT+=. With this shortcut, you can easily calculate the sum of required cells in less than a second.

  • Insert Current Time

While working on some specific projects, we need to keep track of time, such as the start time, break and end time. To keep the time records precise, you can insert the current time in a cell. The shortcut to insert the current time is- CTRL+ SHIFT+ colon(:)

  • Insert Current Date

Just like inserting the current time in Excel, the current date can also be inserted without using the today function. The shortcut to insert the current date is CTRL+colon(:).

  • How to start a new line in the same cell

Individuals with large amounts of data to input into 1 cell must use line breaks. The shortcut for line break inside a cell is- Alt + Enter. This shortcut is crucial for anyone who writes long paragraphs inside a cell.

  • Add Bullet Points Within a Cell

We often generate bullet points by using different lines within a cell. To add bullet points to a cell, you can use the shortcut key ALT+7. This will create bullets for all the points within a cell and make it easier to understand the data.

Among thousands of shortcuts, knowing each one and using each is impossible. But having the knowledge and application of a few can even make you more efficient. Try using the five important Excel shortcuts and save your time. Let us know in the comments section which formula you like the most.
